Tell us about your work environment:
I work with about six people for a fast growing alarm company located in Provo, Utah. Because I work in a small environment I get to play the role of business analyst, database developer, middle-tier programmer, and user interface designer. I enjoy being able to play so many roles because it keeps up my skill set at every level of a program instead of just focusing on one or two skill sets.
What value has your education provided in your current employment?
Every class that I took at Neumont gave me more experience and a more developed skill set. The transition from school to the business world was seamless. I was able to take the skills that I was using on a daily basis in school and bring them to the table for Platinum.
Why did you choose to attend Neumont?
I wanted to work hard, get a good education, and get out into the business world as quick as possible. Before attending Neumont I attended a large private school in Utah and although I enjoyed it, I felt that I could learn more quicker and get a better education at a small university. Neumont helped give me the skill set I need and allowed me to work with companies to develop solutions that are used by the company. This definitely paid off!
Do you have any favorite stories from your time at Neumont?
It's hard to choose just one favorite story with all of the funny things that happened while I was at Neumont but I enjoyed the day in class where another class and mine had a class tug of war and we won! Although we work hard we like to have fun every once in a while too.
Favorite Teachers?
Terry Halpin, Tony Morgan, Jamie King
Favorite Classes?
Nothing can quite compare to the initial thrill of ‘getting it' in Intro to C#. Algorithms with Sam, Intelligent Systems with Tony, and Patterns with Jake and John Turner were all incredible.
Where are you from originally?
Sandy, Utah
Did you live in student housing while at Neumont?
No, but I heard about all of the fun housing activities that I did not get to go to.
