GRADUATION DATE:

September 2007, BSCS

CURRENT EMPLOYER:

Sogeti USA, LLC

JOB TITLE:

Sr. Consultant in Application Development

TELL US ABOUT YOUR WORK ENVIRONMENT:

My work environment is pretty unique. I work as a consultant for Sogeti, which means I don't work on projects at the Sogeti office, it means I travel to my clients location and work from there, on the things they are hiring me for.

The other thing about my work that I love is the fact that more and more companies are switching to consultants to solve their toughest problems. The key phrase there is "to solve their toughest problems", because this is where I thrive! I've been brought into failing projects and have brought them back to life. I have been sent into projects that would make most full time employees cringe at the sheer fact that a 40 hour work week won't be enough. It's this stuff that makes me love my job, because it's always something new and challenging. Each client is different, so each one presents its own callenges.

All in all, consultancies are great places to work, they keep you sharp and out of your confort zone, so you are forced to keep learning and stay fresh.

WHAT VALUE HAS YOUR EDUCATION PROVIDED IN YOUR CURRENT EMPLOYMENT?

Two things that Neumont provided me that will never be outdated; the drive to learn new technologies and the skills to learn how to use them correctly, the first time. Because of this, I’ve been able to do things that I have otherwise thought would be impossible! It’s this skill, not the technology learned, that makes my education at Neumont as valuable as it is to me.

WHY DID YOU CHOOSE TO ATTEND NEUMONT?

Before I found out about Neumont, I was going to attend a college in North Texas. Neumont stood out among the others because the school in North Texas would take 4-5 years to complete a bachelor’s degree, using C and C++ programming languages. Though, that probably would have been okay, it wouldn’t have been ideal to me. Neumont would provide me a better education in half the time!

FAVORITE CLASSES?

I would have to say my favorite class was the enterprise projects. Nothing can beat getting to go work for a company for 4 hours each day! Besides that, All the C# classes, Algorithms, Music Composition, and Business Fundamentals.

WHERE ARE YOU FROM ORIGINALLY?

Snyder, TX

DID YOU LIVE IN STUDENT HOUSING WHILE AT NEUMONT?

Yes. Let me tell you this, it sure did beat living in a cramped dorm room that you would have to move out of each quarter.
