Where do you live?

I live in South Jordan, Utah.  I work out of an office located in Phoenix, AZ, but work from home most days.  I do travel to Phoenix about once a month or so.

What past projects stand out in your mind?

At my last employer, a local Utah consulting company.We worked on a project for Wal-Mart and 1-800-Contacts.  They created an ‘alliance’ where Wal-Mart would sell contacts from 1-800 Contacts in Wal-Mart vision centers.  I assisted in the integration of these two systems.  Using web services and other forms of integration, we were able to successfully launch software that is now used in every Wal-Mart vision center across the country.

What is one of your favorite parts of your job?

I like not having to commute — saving time and money on gas.  I also like being able to get away from the cold during the winter by traveling to Phoenix.

Anything exciting happened in your life since graduating from Neumont?

My wife and I bought a house and have had two children.  As far as work goes, I am currently in a position career wise that I thought would take me 5 years to achieve, but only took about 2.

What advice would you give current Neumont students advice?

Make sure you get the most out of Neumont.  There are a lot of opportunities and a lot of knowledge available to you, but you get out of Neumont what you put into it.  Don’t be passive about your education — take the initiative to learn what you want to learn.

I would like to thank Sam Puich (Provost) for being such an awesome teacher and mentor during my time at Neumont.  Had he not taught my first class at Neumont, I might not be where I am today.
