The purpose of Neumont University's Advisory Board is to provide guidance, support, and advice to the Neumont University Provost and the Curriculum Development Committee to ensure the University's curriculum is in alignment with our Mission Statement and vision. Advisory Board members meet to discuss the direction of technology, the Neumont University curriculum, and an evaluation of how the two should intersect.
- Grady Booch
Mr. Booch is recognized internationally for his work on software architecture, modeling, and software engineering. An IBM Fellow, ACM Fellow, World Technology Network Fellow, and Software Development Forum Visionary, Booch has lectured and consulted worldwide. He is a member of the Association for Computing Machinery (ACM), the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS), and Computer Professionals for Social Responsibility (CPSR). Booch has been with IBM Rational as its Chief Scientist since Rational's founding in 1981. Booch is one of the original developers of the Unified Modeling Language (UML), and is the author of six best-selling books, including the UML Users Guide and the seminal Object-Oriented Analysis with Applications. He has published several hundred technical articles on software engineering, including papers published in the early '80s that originated the term and practice of object-oriented design. Booch received his bachelor of science from the United States Air Force Academy in 1977 and his master of science in electrical engineering from the University of California at Santa Barbara in 1979.
- Dr. Peter Denning
Dr. Denning is Chairman of the Computer Science Department at the Naval Postgraduate School in Monterey, California. Until December 2002, he was Professor of Computer Science and Chair of the Technology Council at George Mason University. Throughout his career, Dr. Denning has been noted for leadership in computer science education, including his current chairmanship of the ACM Education Board, which recently published Curriculum 2001, a major curriculum revision compatible with other IT disciplines. He was co-founder of CSNET, the community network that bridged between the old ARPANET and modern Internet. He received a PhD from MIT and BEE from Manhattan College in 1968 and 1965, respectively. Dr. Denning has published 7 books and 290 articles on computers, networks, and their operating systems.
- Bruce Eckel
Mr. Eckel, President of Mindview, Inc., is the author of Thinking in Java and Thinking in C++, among others. He's been professionally programming for 20 years and has been teaching people throughout the world how to program with objects since 1986, first as a renowned speaker and consultant on C++ and now in Java. He was a voting member of the C++ Standards Committee, has written 4 other books on object-oriented programming, published over 150 articles, and has been a columnist for various computer magazines, including the Java columnist for Web Techniques. He chairs the C++ and Java tracks for the Software Development Conference and holds a BS in Applied Physics and an MS in Computer Engineering.
- Dr. David P. Gardner
Dr. Gardner is currently the Chairman of the J. Paul Getty Trust, and was President of the William and Flora Hewlett Foundation from 1993 to 1999. He was the 15th President of the ten-campus University of California from 1983 to 1992, and prior to that served as the tenth President of the University of Utah from 1973 to 1983. In 1981 Secretary of Education T.H. Bell appointed him Chairman of the National Commission on Excellence in Education, whose 1983 report, "A Nation at Risk", helped spark the national effort to improve and reform schooling in the United States. From 1964 to 1970 Dr. Gardner was a faculty member and vice chancellor at the University's Santa Barbara campus and in 1971 was appointed a Vice President of the University of California. Dr. Gardner is the author of many articles and books on higher education policy and reform.
- Michael Goldstein
Mr. Goldstein is a Partner at Dow, Lohnes & Albertson, PLLC. He has represented the higher education community for more than a half-century, and since the education practice was established in 1978 the firm has advised and assisted many hundreds of institutions including the largest public university systems, major publicly-traded postsecondary companies, and individual public, non-profit and for-profit institutions. Mr. Goldstein is one of the most respected attorneys in the field of postsecondary education today. He is currently chair of the Committee on Legal Education of the National Association of College Attorneys and he has served as co-chair of the Education Grants Committee of the Federal Bar Association and chair of the Education Law Committee of the American Bar Association.
- Sridhar Iyengar
Mr. Iyengar, an IBM Distinguished Engineer, leads the technical strategy for IBM Rational Software. He works with development teams and architects inside IBM and in the industry to accelerate the use of industry standard models, patterns and metadata for developing, integrating and managing applications. He holds several patents in the areas of modeling, metadata management and software integration. He led the definition of the initial MOF and XMI standards and their integration and use by UML and now the broader MDA suite of standards for software infrastructure and industry domain specific standards. Mr. Iyengar serves on the OMG Architecture Board and the OMG Board of Directors overseeing the evolution of MDA. He holds a Bachelor's degree in Electronics Engineering and a Master's in Computer Science.
- Dr. Nancy Martin
Dr. Martin was with Warburg, Pincus from 1999-2005, where she founded and led the Information Technology Assessment and Strategy Group. Prior to joining Warburg, Pincus, she was Vice President for Research and Development for MCI Systemhouse. Dr. Martin was Executive Director for Advanced Technology for Melville Corporation and a partner with Coopers & Lybrand where she directed advanced technology nationally. She was CEO and founder of SoftPert Systems. Dr. Martin was founding professor of Software Engineering at Wang Institute of Graduate Studies and Visiting Professor of Computer Science at Stanford University as well as tenured professor and department chair at University of Michigan (Flint) and tenured Associate Professor at University of New Mexico. She received a BA in mathematics from Stanford University and an M.S. and Ph.D. from The University of Michigan in Computer and Communication Science.
- Mr. Todd Neilson

He has a stellar reputation for exceeding expectations by hundreds and thousands of percents, developing technical white papers on Internet Security technologies, and conceiving and managing innovative, complex projects and solution implementations. Mr. Neilson has presented for numerous professional seminars, conventions, key notes, training and security conferences and has numerous certifications including Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP).
- Ashish V. Shah
Mr. Shah is Senior Vice President and Chief Architect of Medicity, Inc., a leading clinical interoperability company headquartered in Salt Lake City, Utah. As a member of the Office of the CTO, Mr. Shah leads all Research & Development efforts, formulating healthcare technology strategies for the lab, hospital, community and payer markets. He is a member of California RHIO's (CalRHIO) Architecture Advisory Board and the Nationwide Health Information Network's (NHIN) Technology & Security sub-committee. Before joining Medicity, he held the position of interim Chief Architect for a multi-billion-dollar U.S.-based healthcare business.
- John E. Sites
Mr. Sites is the Sr. Vice President for Administration and Interim Vice President for Academic Affairs for Ave Maria University in Naples, Florida. Previously, Mr. Sites served in the regulatory, private, non-profit and for-profit, domestic, and international sectors, successfully holding faculty, departmental, administrative, institutional and system leadership positions, including the President of the American University in Dubai (U.A.E.); Provost and CEO of the American Schools of Professional Psychology; Interim Dean of the John Marshal Law School; faculty member, Academic Dean and Executive Vice President of Brenau University; and COO of Lynn University. He also served for five years as Associate Executive Director, Commission on Colleges, Southern Association of Colleges and Schools.
