Experience the thrill of TechTopia up close and personal at the TechTopia Challenge. At the next TechTopia Challenge you'll choose a project role in management and product developent, website development and design, or software development.

Define project and product specifications, interpret client needs, and develop a work plan

Create a website, a small database, or a business plan with relevant commercial application

Gain a better understanding of Neumont's unique programs; through the project-based learning approach

Push yourself to the limits of your technical prowess by building a website to promote a real-world product

Take an idea from concept to web with your team's expertise (no prior programming or web development experience required)

Check out the Neumont campus, and interact with Neumont faculty

How fast can you learn? How much can you pick up in a short time?
the challenge:
Work together as a large project group to launch a web presence for a real-world business concept (details provided on the day of the event.)
First, choose your role:
- Project Mangement & Product Development
- Website Development & Design
- Software Development
Second, get started:
- Each project role will be given specific instructions and will work together in a larger group to accomplish specific tasks designed around the needs or a real business.
- Watch the timeline and work plan to ensure deliverables are completed on time, and on specification
- Develop creative resources and concepts for web, then code and test to ensure a seemless web experience for customers and clients.
- Refine project deliverables to comply with client specifications and the technical abilities of your team.
Third,the judging:
- You'll be judged by our faculty panel throughout the competition based on your creativity, ability to work in a group, and contribution to the overall project.
- Awards will be given in each project role, multiple people will fill each role, your task is to set yourself apart while still working to accomplish a common goal in a group setting
- Competitor's will be asked to fill out a team evaluation on their colleagues evaluating the professionalism, creativity, and technical prowess of the members of their project group.
The Schedule:
3:00 - 3:30: Check in, choose your project role, and get ready for the challenge - all necessary equipment and supplies will be provided to your group.
4:00 - 6:00: Begin concepting, defining the project scope, and developing your work plan
5:00 - 6:00: Dinner available (grab some pizza and keep working with your team)
6:00 - 8:00: Finalize your project contributions, complete all team paperwork, complete your competitor evaluations, and present on your project accomplishments
8:00 - 9:00: Get your game on and chill for a while, the judges will evaluate your performance and announce the winners (parents are welcome to come for the awards, they shoudl arrive at 8:00 pm)
And, after: Stick around after the Challenge for Halo 3, Guitar Hero 3, Rock Band 2, and Super Smash Brother's Brawl, and get to know current Neumont students.
