Through these upper division project courses, students move beyond the realm of the hypothetical projects and begin to work on small internal (developmental) projects that can actually be implemented by Neumont. These could range from developing a new systems analysis and model for a corporate IT infrastructure to creating a simple 3-D game in a three person project team. By the end of your fourth quarter you'll have a project worth showing off in our Project Showcase.
Developmental labs and courses allow students to work in small project teams to create projects with "real world" application in a digital sandbox.
Through developmental courses students in Neumont's computer science, game development, web development, or technology management programs can:
- Experience the various phases of Software Development lifecycle
- Perform a variety of roles on software, game, or web development teams
- Strengthen and integrate students' existing skills through application on project challenges
- Acquire new skills and knowledge of emerging technologies and approaches
- Work closely with Neumont faculty to solidify the skills they developed in foundational courses
- Prepare for independent project work in Enterprise and Studio Project teams
- Identify potential career opportunities, in their field of study, and develop a career track for the remainder of their education
"The Neumont project experience is amazing. We came up with an idea to build a remote media player. Then, because of Neumont's flexible project courses, we were really able to take this idea and run with it. It was exciting to be able to build something that we came up with, not just having to complete a project that had been assigned to us by an instructor." — Joe Irizarry, Cohort 12, Class of 2009, Cyclops Media Remote Project Team
