project showcase for Prospective Students:
Prospective students and members of the community are welcome to attend our bi-annual Project Showcase in the Fall or Spring. Showcase is an excellent opportunity to gain a feel for the exciting work happening at Neumont.

project showcase for Current Students:
Project Showcase is open to all students with new judging categories for Fall 2011. Prizes are awarded in 100 Level projects, 200 Level projects, Independent Projects, and Enterprise Project categories. You may enter an individual or group project that was done in class or on your own — just get a faculty sponsor to sign off on your project. Class assigned projects that go above and beyond are welcome to enter. Friends and Family are welcome to attend the Showcase to view your projects.
Step One: COMPLETE A Project Showcase ENTRY Form
Submit a Project Showcase Intent to Participate Form, signed by a faculty sponsor to the Reception Desk on floor 3.
Be sure to include:
- Your name (and the names of anyone on your project team if this is a collaborative project). People may enter multiple projects but one person must be at your project display at all times.
- A brief description of your project
- The quarter you completed the project, and the quarter you are currently in
Step Two: Find a Faculty Sponsor
Students wishing to compete must complete an Intent to Participate Form, signed by a faculty sponsor. Faculty will evaluate the projects for inclusion in the showcase based on where the student is in the program.
To demonstrate project quality and readiness for Project Showcase you will be required to show:
- A two minute plain-language elevator explanation of the project.
- A two minute demonstration of their project
- A completed Intent to Participate form
- If you are submitting more than one project, you must demonstrate coverage for each project (a "pitch" person who will cover the table, all booths must be staffed at all times.)
Step Three: Compete
The Showcase will be held in a "science-fair" like setting. Spectators will cast ballots for their favorite projects in each category, as well as an overall winner. Competitors are judged on:
- A two minute plain-language elevator explanation of the project. This explanation should show the student's professionalism, technical expertise, business acumen, and/or entrepreneurial spirit.
- One student from each team may be selected to "pitch" the project, or you can rotate responsibilities.
- A two minute demonstration of the project. All required equipment must be provided by the student.
- Students will have a table to set-up their materials. If the presentation requires a white board or any supplemental "real-estate", please note those on your Intent to Participate Form.
Judging the Showcase
Event attendees (spectators and competitors), faculty, and Neumont Administration will judge the competition. Each attendee is given aan ballot and will select a winner in each category - based on their "Showcase" entry and presentation. Spectators will also choose an overall favorite from any category. New in 2011, each project will also receive a technical score as their base, and votes for this project will be added to the base technical score in order to determine a winner.
Competition Categories:
- 100 Level Projects
- 200 Level Projects
- Enterprise Projects
- Independent Projects (projects done in year two and beyond, in class or out, on a team of fewer than 2 people)
- Overall Preference
Awards Include:
- Neumont Swag
- Best Buy Gift Cards
- Bragging Rights
- And, the coveted Showcase Cup (okay, so it isn't exactly coveted but what good are bragging rights without a big gaudy trophy to decorate your apartment right?)
