When did you graduate from Neumont University?
June, 2007
Tell us about your career and academic pursuits after Neumont?
After graduating from Neumont University I started working as a business technology analyst at Deloitte Consulting. At Deloitte, I focused on developing long-term SOA strategies for large public sector clients as well as leading the implementation of critical parts of these strategies. My performance ratings in Deloitte were exceptional and I was always on the fast-track for early promotion. Simultaneously with my work at Deloitte, I was also remotely working for a biomedical lab at the Harvard Medical School. My research there was focused on the connection between basal transcription initiation and the non-linear breathing dynamics of DNA. During my time at Harvard, I authored and co-authored several peer-reviewed papers which are published in prestigious scientific journals.
Being part of a biomedical research lab showed me that I am passionate about uncovering the enigmas hidden in biology which lead me to pursue furthering my education at the University of Cambridge. I first completed with distinction a Master's in Computational Biology and currently I am completing a PhD in Molecular Biology.
Why did you choose to attend Neumont University?
I was attracted by the innovative project-based curriculum and the ability to study under industry leaders. I also loved the fast-paced job-like nature of Neumont and the fact that I could easily find a prestigious good paying job after graduating.
What value has your Neumont education provided in your current employment/academic pursuits?
Neumont's rigorous project-based curriculum prepared me to become a top performing employee at one of the best consulting companies in the world. The education at Neumont also gave me a broader view on the field of information technologies, thus making me realize both my potential and future perspectives. Further, the university's exceptional academic training allowed me to achieve fourteen prestigious software certificates. Lastly, Neumont University's administration was extremely supportive and they were always there to help me and guide me throughout the job-searching process.
How did project-based learning prepare you for the role you are in today?
The project-based learning environment at Neumont University was quite similar to what I experienced when working for Deloitte. This made me better prepared than the other recent hirings and I believe it was the key to my success there. Further, Neumont's enterprise projects allowed me to start meeting people from some of the top technology companies (e.g. IBM) and thus starting to build a large and diverse network long before graduating.
What past projects stand out in your mind?
The project I clearly remember was the IBM IT Specialist Portfolio enterprise project on which I spent several quarters. In this project I led a team of several developers in creating a portfolio management system for the certification needs of all IBM IT Specialists. We started by architecting the software solution and designing the database, and finished by delivering a working system to our IBM client. The project was quite intensive but it allowed me to both work with the IBM worldwide IT specialist profession leader as well as learn more about IBM's corporate culture. I believe that the majority of the people on the project received offers from IBM upon graduating.
In your continuing education at Cambridge, how was your Neumont education received?
My Neumont University degree was accepted as a first-class honours degree (the highest in the United Kingdom) at the University of Cambridge. I also believe that my perfromace in Cambridge was indicative to the high quality of eduction I received in Neumont.
Thank you for the great education and good luck in the future!!!
