FReX Frequently Asked Questions

WhY SHOULD I ATTEND FREX?

Would you buy a car without taking it out for a spin? Making big decisions - maybe one of the most important of your life - without thoroughly researching the pros and cons, so you know what to expect, would be a mistake. Experiencing first-hand what it means to be a Neumont student is what FReX is all about. This event lets you experience nearly every aspect of Neumont, including participating in project-based learning, meeting faculty, touring student housing, and learning about Salt Lake City. This way, you and your family can make a well-informed decision.

What is FReX?
FReX is short for Freshman Experience, an exclusive event we hold in the spring for accepted students and their parent(s),  guardian(s), or spouse. It offers you an immersive experience in life at Neumont so you'll know pretty much what to expect as a student.

What happens at FReX?

FReX gives you and your parents, guardians, or spouse a clear idea of what life as a Neumont student will be like. You'll watch students demonstrate projects, hear from staff and faculty, check out student housing, and hang out with other students. By the end of the weekend, you’ll know for certain that Neumont is right for you.

What will the weather be like?

Spring time in Salt Lake City is beautiful, with a shift to warmer temperatures. But just like spring in other places, it can sometimes be chilly and wet. Keep an eye on the weather report and plan to bring weather-appropriate gear, including a light jacket and comfortable walking shoes.

When is FReX?

Accepted students and their parents, guardians, or spouse are invited to attend FReX on March 8-9 OR on April 19-20, 2019. The event will begin on Friday morning and will wrap up by mid-day on Saturday.

Where will FReX be held?

FReX will kickoff at the Little America Hotel, located at 500 South Main Street, three blocks away from Neumont’s campus. After the morning activities, guests will walk to the Neumont College campus, located at 143 South Main Street, Salt Lake City, Utah.

Who is FReX for?

All accepted students and their parent(s), guardian(s) or spouse are invited to attend FReX. If you have not yet submitted an Application for Admission, you may do so here.

Are transfer students invited to FReX?

Yes! Absolutely! Transfer students can also bring parents, guardians, or their spouse.

What’s the best way to get around at FReX?

Don't worry about a rental car during your visit. The award-winning Utah Transit Authority TRAX light rail system is convenient and affordable. There will be some light walking during the event, so please come prepared with sturdy shoes and weather-appropriate gear. Details on transportation options are below:

  • Public transportation: The Utah Transit Authority TRAX light rail system connects the Salt Lake City International Airport to downtown Salt Lake City and its surrounding suburbs. Schedules and fare information for the Green Line/Route 704 are available on the UTA website. The Little America Hotel is located by the Courthouse stop; the Neumont campus is a short walk from the City Center stop or from the Gallivan Center stop.
  • Car: Visitors arriving to FReX by car should park at The Little America Hotel, located at 500 South Main Street. Parking at the campus is not available.
How do I take advantage of the complimentary hotel room offer?
Students accepted for the fall of 2019 and their parent(s), guardian(s), or spouse who are traveling more than 50 miles to attend FReX qualify for a complimentary hotel room for up to two nights at a hotel of Neumont’s choice. Any additional guests, as well as amenities or additional charges, will be at the expense of the visiting family. If you choose to stay beyond these days, you may do so at your own expense and at the discounted Neumont corporate rate.

To take advantage of this offer, you’ll need to book your hotel stay by following the instructions found here. You will need a valid credit card number to secure your room. Neumont will cover the cost for one, double-occupancy room for up to two nights (Thursday – Friday). Any additional expenses will be charged to the provided credit card.
