ENTERPRISE PARTNERSHIPS

Neumont works with leaders in the tech industry to develop curriculum that graduates career-ready tech professionals. Through our project-based approach, students gain practical experience through Enterprise Projects. Partners for these projects include local and national companies that supervise a team of students as they deliver, test, and present a completed project.

Our goal is to produce graduates who are ready to hit the ground running from day one on the job. To accomplish this goal, our curriculum pairs practical, real-world experience with relevant theory resulting in career-ready tech professionals with a deep understanding of technology and business. Employers consistently report Neumont students are ahead of the curve when it comes to grasping software development concepts compared to other college graduates—then come back to hire more. Help grow your company with Neumont students and graduates who are qualified to help you accomplish your software development goals.

Through Enterprise Projects, our students work in teams on real projects for real companies. Enterprise Partners are local, regional, and national companies that plan to hire entry-level tech professionals. An Enterprise Project course requires students to plan, execute, and test a completed project. This allows employers to better assess how future tech professionals will fit into their company.

Through this approach, students gain practical experience working for companies on large-scale projects. They also enhance their communication skills by participating in team-based projects, and they improve their coding skills by putting their knowledge to use.

PARTNER BENEFITS

  • Get to know enthusiastic, talented, young developers.

  • Observe a different perspective on your company methods, practices, and objectives.

  • Watch students work in a professional environment that mirrors a corporate office before making a hiring decision.

  • Students contribute to projects working under the supervision of software engineers and developers as well as a Neumont instructor.

Students will deliver and present a project at the end of the quarter. Companies are encouraged to view the project as a student environment focused on learning. It is not recommended students work on live projects. The student team's product and participation should be carefully monitored as the team learns, and you gain exposure to future tech professionals.

Tips for Applying for an Enterprise Project

Companies interested in sponsoring an Enterprise Project should submit a project proposal approximately two months before the start of each quarter. (Quarters start approximately every October, January, April, and June. Contact the Career Services Office for exact dates.)

Project proposals are reviewed and selected by our Project Selection Committee. Upon notification of acceptance, Enterprise Project Sponsors must complete necessary contracts prior to the start of the quarter. The company will then present the project to students enrolled in the Enterprise Project Course. Students are given an opportunity to weigh in on which projects they would like to work on as team selections are made.

Once teams are selected, students and sponsors are notified of the teams they’ll be working on, and communications between sponsors and students can begin. This is time for any background checks, getting systems set-up, etc., so that your students are ready to go when the quarter starts.

Neumont students graduate at the end of each quarter, every December, March, June, and September. Contact the Career Services Office for exact dates. The largest cohort in 2020 will graduate at the beginning of September.

ENTERPRISE PROJECTS FAQ

Enterprise Project Proposal

College Partnership

This project will be a collaborative effort between The Company, Neumont College of Computer Science, and Neumont College of Computer Science students. Before the project takes place, The Company will enter into an Enterprise Partnership Agreement with Neumont College of Computer Science for the duration of the project. The company will subsidize project expenses at the rate of $2,500 per student paid each quarter in which the project is conducted. Project subsidies are applied to Neumont College of Computer Science scholarships to facilitate this program.

The company will be responsible for reimbursing travel costs for the students if needed. Neumont students receive a UTA ECO Pass that can be used on all UTA buses, TRAX, and Frontrunner trains. Travel time to and from the project site will be taken into consideration when reviewing a proposal. Neumont has on-campus rooms from which remote projects can be managed.

Student Teams

The student team (typically two to five students) assigned to this project will be selected by the Neumont Enterprise Projects Committee that includes Neumont Corporate Relations, and Neumont Program Chairs and Faculty with input from prospectively assigned students and the Company. Students are unpaid and consequently they are not interns, employees or consultants.

Essentially team formation is a “free market process” within Neumont; more dynamic, higher educational value projects tend to attract more student participation. It is to the Partner’s benefit to develop attractive, challenging projects. Career Services staff will help shape the project specification to yield maximized mutual benefit. Multi-quarter projects often develop momentum and self-generating student demand.
